Between the April showers !

As the sun was shining so nicely we thought best get out quick and do some painting ...  so wizz to Bosham ,low tide , such fantastic light and colours .
Joel and Mike go to the Oxmarket and look at the space in the Wilson Room where his exhibition will be . Mike photographs the space so he can make a virtual gallery for Joel so he can work out how to hang the show as he'll be in Dialysis on Monday.  Then Elisabeth and I can collect the paintings on Monday morning and hang the show , Joel and I can do the lables and pricing on Tuesday a.m. and we'll take the laptop to access this blog on. Lets hope its dry on Monday morning !

  1. Congratulations , completing a body of work is always the hardest ! So crudos for Joel for achieving this , it is indeed shifting the horizon line where the viewer becomes part of the landscape, contrasted with the only presence of the waterlilies that absorb the viewer into the underwater world, if anything , Joel is a draftsman working with a limited pallet , we see the directness of the emotions with the spontaneous brush marks that make up his paintings. If anything its Joel's presence in the wind of his landscapes, that takes his paintings beyond the picturesque.

  2. I do hope the exhibition went well - sorry that i could not attend and hope you had a good number of visitors. From what I can see from the blog the lillies look wonderful. There is a great balance of tones in the greens that are offset by vivid shadows in the water. I really can't make out the landscapes from the photos but you seem to have captured the horizontal vista in a remarkable limited amount of brushwork. Congratulations. Clive ( St Albans)
